I recently shot a staged roof deck in the back bay for one of my real estate clients. What I like about this picture is that it's not just about a piece of property, it's about a lifestyle for the potential buyer.
Rock For A Reason
The other day I got an interesting email from a woman who was producing a benefit concert for her sister, Kiva, who was battling cancer. As someone who played a bunch of benefit shows and even had to have his own benefit shows to pay for my health care when I was in an accident in 2004, this kind of stuff is near and dear to my heart.
The other interesting thing about this was that it was a bunch of older bands reuniting to help their friend and these bands were from a sect of the Boston music scene that I knew virtually nothing about. For lack of a better term, these were "hair metal" bands, or "melodic 80's hard rock" bands.
If you know me, you know I grew up on Punk Rock and Hardcore music. Most people in my scene shaved their hair off rather than grew it. I never heard of these bands. They played at long since defunct venues that I've only heard of like Narcissus.
Turned out that the woman, Dawn, and her sister, Kiva, were the nicest people. The bands displayed some incredible musicianship and all the musicians were extremely nice to me. At the end of the night I complimented one of the guitar players and we started talking about Eddie Van Halen. Turned out that his brother was non-other than Gary Cherone, the dude from Extreme, who was the third singer of VAN HALEN!?
(What dude!?)
And!!!
And!!!
Gary was next to him! So I got to meet the third singer of Van Halen. That was cool.
This is a clip of Kiva's favorite band In The Pink. Kiva ran their fan club and was instrumental in helping them with their career.
Next, I'll be editing this whole show with interviews.
Good stuff.

Scissorfight Photo from and for ONCE BALLROOM
I've been asked to show a couple of my pictures at The ONCE Ballroom on September 16th. This is one of the two pictures I'll be showing. This is Scissorfight, playing as the special guest at the 2016 Rock and Roll Rumble.
A number of other other super talented rock photographers will be showing their work as well including Coleman Rogers, JJ Gonson, Josh Pickering, Kelly Davison, and Nicole Tammaro.
The prints will be sold as a benefit for the ONCE Ballroom.
The Algonquin Club in Back Bay
I was recently hired to document the Algonquin Club in Back Bay. The Algonquin Club is a social club that started in the late 19th century. A few US Presidents have dined there including Teddy Roosevelt. They hired me to document their club before their upcoming renovation. I love this night picture in particular because it shows the building's grandiosity. Plus, I'm always a sucker for night photography.
A video for Hudson Light & Power
Here's a video I made for Hudson Light and Power last year. I like the drone stuff shot by Jonathan Goldstein, Eric O'Brien's voice over, and of course my stunning directing and editing (he said modestly).
Mayflower Medicinals and Anderson Porter Design
Time to get back to this blogging thing.
I photographed the inside of Allston, MA's newest marijuana dispensary Mayflower Medicinals. They just opened last week. The architecture was done by Anderson Porter Design. The branding and packaging were done by Karmory.
As my dad would say, "Come out nice!"

Testimonial from Magician Franc Karpo
I was in dire need for a photo shoot for my magic business. The last one I had was in 2004, so when Bonaparte recommended Duncan Wilder, I jumped at the chance.
I was pressed for time because we scheduled the session the day before I went back to Scotland. Duncan normally spends about two hours on a photo shoot. I told him, I only had an hour and would we still be able to make this work? He said, no problem, everything will be just fine.
It was more than fine. Getting this done in an hour was a piece of cake. Duncan was easy to work with, very professional and I was impressed with the quality of his work. He put his magic touch editing on the photos I selected and now I have about 10 awesome photos to use on my websites and marketing pieces.
The photos even passed the wife test! Eleni has a sharp eye for quality visuals and was impressed. She loved all the images except one. (She said I looked dopey on one. No fault with Duncan on this. I told him to add the photo to the selected ones.) LOL
Duncan – thanks a bunch. Loved working with you!!!

Images from the Boston Common "Free Speech" Rally - Aug. 19, 2017
Here are some images I made at the "Free Speech" Rally on the Boston Common yesterday. Normally I don't post political things on my website. However, I couldn't stand by and allow racism and bigotry to come to my town and not stand up to it. PERIOD, THE END. NAZIS ARE NOT WELCOME IN BOSTON.
Diablogato in the Improper Bostonian

June 26, 2017 - SHOW WILL RULE (for Mike Oliver)
Here are some images from last weeks SHOW WILL RULE gig at The Once Ballroom in Somerville, MA. The gig was a benefit for our friend Mike Oliver and the bands were SCISSORFIGHT, WORSHIPPER, THE HUMANOIDS, and HEY ZUES. Enjoy the pictures.
Also, I'm starting a video blog with the working title of ADVENTURES OF DUNC. This will be about photography, video, rocking out and whatever else I want to do with it.
June 19, 2017 - Bonaparte
Meet Bonaparte, Boston's best magician! Had a great time shooting him, plus I got to add some post production flair to the project! Enjoy!
Ho99o9 at Sonia, Cambridge, 2017
June 6, 2017 - Ho99o9
Saw the coolest, most innovative, heavy as hell, and disturbing (in a good way) band at Sonia in Cambridge last Saturday night. They're called Ho99o9. It's experimental hip-hop and hardcore punk with performance art elements. I haven't been this blown away by a band, live in at least 10 years.
May 22, 2017 - Dad's 70th
Celebrated my dad's 70th birthday this past weekend. Made a lot of pictures of people I love. Happy Birthday DAD!
